If it is a windows only tool why do you list a MAC as a requirement?

Will there be a Mac version?
Fredrik, Syndicate  2009-11-17 10:06
There will probably be a Mac version, and users of the PC version will get that as well.

However, the Mac requirement is not actually an requirement as much as an recommendation based on the fact that we've only captured media through Final Cut Pro. It is hard to say that Premiere Pro is supported when we haven't tested it (we don't have it). It probably will work, as long as the captured material is captured and stored in a QuickTime file with little or no compression. But we can't recommend it since it is untested. Our current solution is based on how Final Cut Pro captures and stores frames when capturing the 60i hdmi stream to 30p ProRes through the Matrox MXO2 Mini. Premiere probably does the same on PC, though. But only the above configuration is tested.

Read the user guide for all the details.

Thanks for reply

As far as we know the 5D would not work hopfully the 1D will work. The multi capture eclipse would most definitly work we have not tested though.

Just flippet throught the instructions, interesting work and progress.
How come that the software doesnt work with the 5D mkII.
Yoon  2009-12-01 20:01
If it would be possible, are you planning to developp it for the mkII considering the upcoming firmware.

I does not work on the 5D because the 5D change the resolution on the HDMI output when recording to a half screen.
Anonymous  2009-12-04 01:51
I wanted to test the workflow and recorded the 7d with blackmagic intensity in FCP.
But I don´t get a file like in the sample movie, with just a red dot in the corner.
I get a copy of the 7d-screen, showing all the recording info like shutterspeed,
the full 2:3 foto framing with greyed out lines at top and bottom.

What am I missing?

Thanks
David

Hit the info button a couple of times until the shutter info disappears. Then you get a completely different picture.

Hej Viktor, tack för att ni delar med er av ert arbete! (I think the 0.1.7 release of the Magic Lantern takes care of the resolution change. Can the 5d output 4:2:2 aswell via hdmi and a Black Magic card?)
Syndicate  2009-12-07 15:17
Mac native version coming along nicely. Will be massively more featured than the version here. Current customers will naturally get a free upgrade.

Yoon,
I think the 5D will work with magic lantern and the 7D tool.

Very excited about this. When the MAC version comes out I will be there. Need to get rid of that recording light though!!

How do I iget fullres HD out of HDMI on my 7D? I thought it was 480p...I could on playback but it as already been compressed right?
Thank you
robert luttrell  2009-12-18 18:45
does your program EXTRACT a true 24p from the 60i stream (is there a
form of 3:2 pull down like some sony amd panasonic video cameras)
or are you extrapolating a file (like Twixtor) to create 24p.

Does one have to have a dual platform running on the Mac pro to utilize the software?

Side by side, will your output look much better to the eye than native capture?
Anonymous  2010-01-19 21:45
This is going to be one of the first things on my list once the recording light is gone.

Great job!
Anonymous  2010-01-22 06:04
I don't get it?

The camera outputs 4:2:2 then you are convert it to 4:4:4?

Isn't this like closing the gate after the horse has bolted?

Any news in regards to the 1D Mark IV?
Anonymous  2010-02-23 20:20
Any idea if this will work with the 550d which is coming out next month?
Anonymous  2010-02-24 15:50
Are you planning on developing something for any existing Nikon camera with hdmi output?
Is it even possible?

Thanks in advance,
E.C.

Must the capture hardware be the Matrox Mini or will Black Magic's products work as well? Thanks!
Anonymous  2010-03-09 01:58
any news whether this will work for the 550D?
Ray Adams  2010-03-11 16:07
This is indeed an interesting development. I hope that you will not only develop for the MAC for also for PC users. Now for the first time we could then bypass the limiting h.264 format...and even be able to acquire chromakey and pickup shots...and if possible record longer than 10 minutes/4 gigs worth. I think that Adobe would be very interested in your product as well...have you contacted them?
What about using other Hardware like Black Magic Design...note that both Matrox's M02 mini and the BMD impact do not support 24 (23.97) native frame rates...so you are dealing with 25, 30 drop frame and 50i, 60i drop frame. Looking forward to more development and testing. Cheers, Ray Adams, FX and Production Supervisor

Do you have any video samples that show the results of this capture tool. We'd like to feature it on our cinematography site digitalcinemafoundry . com We've already done a post about it, we'd just like to see and compare the results. Thank you kindly in advance.

THIS PRODUCT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED. Check out our paypal store for the new exciting Syndicate Capture Tool that replaces this product.

Syndicate 7D Tool is a Windows utility that recovers the actual shot material from a HDMI capture of the 7D. The process is done without any loss of information in the captured stream.

7D Tool also gracefully does automatic reconstruction of the chroma from the captured 4:2:2 chroma subsampling to a complete 4:4:4 stream.

Due to the nature of the 7D HDMI output the actual usable resulting frame will be uncompressed 1620x910, but will be the same crop as the 1080p compressed material on the camera's memory card. In the top right corner there will also be a red dot that has to be removed in post by grabbing those pixels from the corresponding file on the camera's memory card. We're working on automating this process in future versions.
