These films where shot with the 7D BNC-R, Super baltar lenses and a diopter. The films are part of a web campain for the swedish luxury watch company, Sandströms. The depth of field and the crisp look is a great reference for 7D BNC-R Macro work. There are some moare issues but not mor than what could come out of a regular film telecine process. So all in all, this shows that the camera and those lenses work great for table top shoots.

Syndicate proudly presents thier DUO7D3D Stereoscopic camera solution.

A ready to rumble solution for 3D cinematic imagery The dual 7D head is now calibrated and delivers footage that is very keen on the eyes. Again the small sized cameras and the low noise / high ISO is a solution ideal for Stereoscopic films. This is the first out of two 3D rigs syndicate will start to produce. It covers the above 120 mm in between eyes distance. Then next step is a mirror solution covering 0-120 mm eye distance. The clips bellow are all post rendered to be viewed with the old school cyan/red kind of 3D glasses. The two streams can off-course be rendered in any shape for any kind of dual projection i.e polarized or one screen per eye etc.

Ignore the bad Stockholm / November weather and lightning conditions. The files bellow are downscaled and compressed quicktimes files, off-course the full 1920x1080 resolution is providing a better result.

The Syndicate 7D-3D Stereoscopic camera is in the making. Dual headed camera rig with two 7D bodies. Synchronized focus is in the making and test clips will be uploaded tomorrow Friday. So if you have some 3D glasses some where it's high time to go and get them. Now it's late and wee need to sleep, we thought we would manage to upload some quicktimes here today but it has to wait until tomorrow. Not enough light and sleep is needed. So for now those two pictures will be all. We think it's the first 7D-3D solution on the web at least we been searching and have not seen anything like it.

David Kvart from Hobby Factory rents the Syndicate 7D BNR-R Cine HD system with the Matrox HDMI recorder and shoots green screen with DOP Martin Grafström. The production was later posted at Syndicate. The green screen was lit with simple lighting and the extreme low noise level in the images from the uncompressed matrox footage from the 7D sensor provides a key channel that beats competitors like RED or celluloid footage by far. This proves the theory that the HDMI 7D reconstructed source is optimal for chroma key shooting. It provides a far better picture source at a fraction of the cost of any other camera at this date.

Since this page does not let you type links I can not write the magic 3 w's after each other.
Impressive captures, but why are you capturing 1620x910? Is this a by-product of the de-interlacing? The Coke bottle shot has got me worried about image distortion within the frame during a pan tilt. Could it have been introduced in the 60i to 24P/25P conversion in post? I saw that problem on the Nikon D70 off it's sensor. It would be great to see this warpage issue tested out. I need to get my hands on a camera even better with this mount.
Awesome start to an interesting solution. Please post more. Thanks, adkins.dop@mac.com
1620x1080 would be fine by me with my anamorphics at a 3:1 ratio instead of 3.5:1... Less waste to get to 2.40:1. 1080 is the key because scaling creates more havoc than cropping. When do they predict a new firmware...? Just like the 5D getting 24p in a few months with firmware. This is all really good to know, I feel very optimistic about what you are doing.
I saw some 7D capture on the CF card with Canons' compression and I felt the diagonals were a bit aliasing in Times Square, but I don't see that here... Is that your conclusion too? I would love to see a grid test shot with a pan and tilt to rule out distortion and a resolution chart shot diagonally to check out what I see as an issue or at what stage things are introduced or eliminated. Just an idea from the other side of the Atlantic.
How did the sharp production shoot go?
2. What are usually the render times for an average clip when using your script?
3. Also would it be at all possible to get a download of that script so we can possibly make other tests with our 7D's.
4. And would it be to much for you guys to possibly do a tutorial on this workflow. If we could get our 7D's to put out images like this, we could get alot more from our cams than we are currently. As we say More BANG for your BUCK $$$
Many Thanks
Mark

Do you have an estimate for the Mac Osx release and if bought now would the PC license carry over later for a possible future release. The only other question I have is for offline would you post using the native framerate to maintain picture lock when replacing the original files with the newly converted files. Or will the material need eye matched.
Thanks again.
Mark
In any case, the license will be transferable to Mac, and will work with future versions aswell, up to a point. There is also the possibility that once that version is up and running all future updates will go in there only, due to the (probably) higher demand for that platform. But for this version, depending on needs and sales, will most likely contain conversion based on an EDL instead of whole files, automatic sync and removal of the red dot, given the right h.264 file, and possibly automatic selection of that file. Also, some kind of UI, other than the command-line tool will probably happen.
A.) Will this software work on this new camera? (I am trying to find out if the HDMI out on the 1D Mark IV is the same as the 7D).
B.) Are you going to test with the 1D mark IV to see if it works?
Mark Patten UK based DP
It will work with 5D and magic lantern that gives you full 1920 HDMI from the 5D.
This program could be driven by a child or actually totaly by it self and it is better than any raptor och other Video assist capture out there.
THX very much, Looking forward to see what could be improved in the next release. I have to figure out something to ask for. :)
